Compact wind tunnel technology Aero Optim
In cooperation with Japan Wind Tunnel Manufacturing Inc, Nishiyama markets the world's most compact wind tunnels. Aero Optim is the new flexible and affordable alternative to ordinary large wind tunnels. A single Aero Optim 2020J measures just 1470(L)x686(W)x683(H) mm and conceals a fan, diffuser and flow straightener inside. By stacking several of the innovative wind tunnels, the size of the flow cross-section can be adapted to the size of the object to be examined. The special technology makes it possible to direct and stabilise the air flow evenly over a short distance and still achieve high performance.
Wind tunnel measurement technology
To match the compact wind tunnels, JWT has also developed compact measuring tables and various mounts. At Eurobike 2021, one could already see the measuring table specially developed for cyclists. This is specialised in measuring the aerodynamics of a bicycle and its rider, even while the rider is pedalling. In order to safely support the athlete and the bike, it is designed for a load of up to 200 kg and convinces with the highest precision. Even the slightest differences, such as different clothing material, are detected. To avoid measurement errors caused by the rider's movements, the "MCS" (Movement Correction System), which was specially developed for sports applications, was integrated into the measurement software, which filters cyclical movements.
